About me
I’m Dr Hannah Odendaal, a registered Clinical Psychologist. I am passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges and find ways to lead more fulfilling and rewarding lives.
Qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist involves rigorous academic and clinical training up to doctoral level. My work is grounded in a range of modern, evidence-based psychological therapies that are proven to be effective. I often draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Having worked in the NHS for many years, I now work exclusively in private practice from my clinic in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. I typically work with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress/burnout, adjusting to change/ life stressors, perfectionism and feeling ‘stuck’ / unfulfilled. I also have a particular interest in the emotional strain of a physical health condition (my area of specialism in my NHS work), including pain related conditions and fatigue.
I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, depending on your individual needs. Whether you are looking for focused support with a particular difficulty or would like to explore longer-standing patterns and challenges in more depth, we can work together to find an approach that feels right for you.
My style
I aim to bring a warm, genuine and down-to-earth approach to therapy. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a collaborative process. My aim is to provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and make sense of what you are experiencing. .
I also place a strong emphasis on helping people develop a better understanding of themselves, including the thoughts, emotions, behaviours and patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
Alongside this, I like therapy to feel practical and purposeful, helping you develop strategies and make changes that can translate into everyday life. This can help you build a life that feels more aligned with what matters to you.
Ultimately, my aim is not simply to help you feel better in the short term, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and build the skills and confidence to navigate life's challenges more effectively in the future.
